OpenSimulator Community Conference 2016

We present our approach for enabling users to inject Google maps and geo-located panoramic views into virtual training environments. These virtual environments can be created by users through point and click operations. We believe that by mixing 3D virtual content with real world geo-located visual cues, trainees are able to translate more easily any skill or knowledge they acquire during their virtual training.

We present three applications Webstickies, Surround view portals and Configurable classrooms to describe our efforts for expanding the application design space for the OpenSimulatorulator platform.

Join Kay McLennan in a fast moving discussion (with handouts!) of how educators can start using engaging and effective virtual world simulations/activities immediately and with little or no cost. Kay will provide tips, tricks, and practical advice for how to: (1) bring students into a virtual world -- for building, exploration, and/or immersive discussions; (2) how to set-up prepacked virtual world simulations; and (3) how to use virtual world simulations as a backdrop for creating unique teaching materials, including talking [avatar] head video clips.

Join Dr. Larysa Nadolny in a discussion of how to use the motivating and engaging features of games in designing a learning activity in the virtual world. She will give examples on how to use challenges, leaderboards, easter eggs and more!
