SurvivalSim at AU: Do You Have What It Takes to Survive?
Join us on the AU Metaverse as we playtest the game and reflect on its design. If you are not fond of games, worry not. Your teammates may save you or you can hoard your chocolate bars and hope for the best! Data from this session will contribute to a test of the data analytics tool during the follow-on event on December 15th. Join us for both sessions to see how the game flows into the analytics tool and to discuss the strategies used in its design.

Senses Places
Senses Places is an ongoing collaborative transdisciplinary project creating mixed reality participatory performance environments that engage participants in a physical and mediat(iz)ed kinesthetic/somatic movement relational experience.

We foster possibilities for multiple embodied and environmental interactive amplifications and permeations by designing/choreographing physical-virtual interfaces with/through avatars, video images, bio-signals and aspects of environments, based on live videostreams, webcam, and biometric devices, towards new inclusive modes of embodied sharing, exchanging and creating transcultural community.

Taking place in a shared virtual place* at Second Life’s MUVE, gathering international collaborators and participants at remote places, the project evolves through each mixed reality instantiation, generating unknown posthuman corporealities in a process of physicalizing the virtual and virtualizing the physical.

Before the performance, the visiting participants are asked to copy the HUD files from the giver in space and follow the instructions to connect with the webcam interface and interact with our avatar. Then read the proposal (also in the giver) to engage in the group improvisation.

Liverpool Crown Street station is frequently identified as the earliest archetype for the railway stations of the present day but its life was short (1830-1836) and no visual record remains apart from general maps and a few sketches invariably made from the same perspective. The OpenSimulator model attempts to recreate a working station compatible with available evidence from other locations as well as Crown Street itself. The presentation reimagines the excitement of a first journey on this revolutionary new form of transport.

Virtual Robotics: Creating, Collaborating and Constructionist Learning in a Virtual World
The Educational Robotics for STEM project, funded by the European Commission, aims to develop a continuous framework for the design of educational robotics activities for all children aged 7-18, both in and out-of-school, regardless of current interest in STEM subjects. In this presentation we explore the development of virtual robots (SLurtles) and the virtual environment in which children will explore, test and extend their understanding of mathematics and programming, through collaborative, constructionist learning activities. The research aims to explore the potential of virtual worlds for providing an alternative robotics experience for children by examining the creations, collaboration and learning that goes on in both the physical and virtual learning environments.

Improve your hypergrid skills, meet new people,  and learn about the joys of group grid jumping.Hypergridding is a way t test the limits of OpenSim technology, to inspire and encourage creators, and to strengthen the bonds of our community.

This year Thirza Ember of HG Safari has organized a special double trip around the hyperverse. Two separate trips depart from Expo Zone 2 on the OSCC grid at 11am. The whole adventure will be streamed with a commentary by Hypergrid experts such as John 'Pathfinder' Lester and Mal Burns

This year, two tours to cut the lag in half, and double our fun!You can choose to go on either the 'Dragon' tour or the 'Butterfly tour. Each will visit three different grids, and see builds that feature Big Art, Education, and interactive Entertainment. You will get to see what is means to travel from grid to grid and meet builders and owners and hear about how they have successfully used OpenSim.You'll experience a variety of different grids, from large to small, from commercial to non profit, in Europe and the United States.

Senses Places - Mixed Reality Participatory Performance
Senses Places: dancing with your physical body, image, avatar and bio-signals.

Senses Places is an ongoing collaborative transdisciplinary project creating mixed reality participatory performance environments that engage participants in a physical and mediat(iz)ed kinesthetic/somatic movement relational experience.
Isabel will discuss Senses Places artistic vision towards mixed reality embodied interfacing encompassing instead of simply substituting the physical body and environment. Focus will be given to the latest process experimenting with simultaneous modes of embodied movement interaction by engaging physically and virtually through different bodily senses, particularly kinesthesis.

What will be of our virtual presence and activity without our physical embodied engagement with the machines? The transdisciplinary dance/performance art-tech approach develops improvisational situations on somatic based practices, including CI, Butoh, Yoga, Tai Chi that contribute to and expand our awareness and communication channels. We believe that this kind of approach promotes healthy and evolving interactivity with and through intelligent machines.

Beginner Scripting: Lesson 4
Introductory lessons in scripting LSL and OSSL, the Linden Scripting Language and OpenSim Scripting Language. In this lesson we will learn about using functions to set and change textures in useful ways.

Each lesson is structured to stand on its own but is limited to the material covered in the lesson. Those wishing to start with the first lesson, can visit the SLexit Sandbox any time between now and then, and click the red prim below the media screen to receive notecard transcripts of past lessons if they would like to progress through lessons already taught. Students should come able to use voice to listen to the instructor, and understand English, as well as a basic familiarity with using the SL/OS viewer interface.
