Senses Places is an ongoing collaborative transdisciplinary project creating mixed reality participatory performance environments that engage participants in a physical and mediat(iz)ed kinesthetic/somatic movement relational experience.
We foster possibilities for multiple embodied and environmental interactive amplifications and permeations by designing/choreographing physical-virtual interfaces with/through avatars, video images, bio-signals and aspects of environments, based on live videostreams, webcam, and biometric devices, towards new inclusive modes of embodied sharing, exchanging and creating transcultural community.
Taking place in a shared virtual place* at Second Life’s MUVE, gathering international collaborators and participants at remote places, the project evolves through each mixed reality instantiation, generating unknown posthuman corporealities in a process of physicalizing the virtual and virtualizing the physical.
Before the performance, the visiting participants are asked to copy the HUD files from the giver in space and follow the instructions to connect with the webcam interface and interact with our avatar. Then read the proposal (also in the giver) to engage in the group improvisation.
